For 6.5 years, he has been working as a QC Engineer at Weldmij, immersed in the technical world of offshore wind turbine foundations. And that’s for projects worldwide! Taras feels more than at home in his dynamic role and he will tell you all about his work at Weldmij.<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The evolving roles of a QC Engineer<\/h2>\n

Having an affinity for technology, problem-solving skills, innovative approaches, and the ability to adapt to changing situations \u2013 you could easily associate these qualities with the role of a QC Engineer. Why? “For about 6.5 years, Weldmij has assigned me to a company in Belgium that constructs large steel structures. There, I am involved in all aspects of manufacturing foundation piles for offshore wind turbines. Such a project typically lasts more than a year, and during that time, your tasks are constantly changing,” explains Taras. “I am essentially the link between the customer and the shop floor. I translate contractual documents into instructions and ensure that the end product is realized within the specified requirements and timeframe. This involves a lot of communication, meetings, and writing instructions\/test plans.”<\/p>\n

Contributing to major projects: Something to be proud of!<\/h2>\n

What does it mean to have different roles? “Since the project lasts a long time, I have a different role in each phase. In the initial phase, I do a lot of writing. During the manufacturing process, I come up with technically sound solutions for any problems that arise. And when it’s finished, I handle the follow-up. In other words, there’s a lot of documentation!” Taras explains. In short, his workdays are incredibly diverse. And that’s precisely one of the things Taras enjoys most about his job: “You never know what’s going to happen in a day. It can be different every day. Additionally, it’s exhilarating to complete such a large-scale project. Recently, a project went to Japan, and I had the opportunity to contribute to that! As a result, my name and expertise are recognized worldwide in the industry. That’s something to be proud of.”<\/p>\n

The challenge of international projects<\/h2>\n

With versatile and international work, challenges naturally arise. This holds true for QC Engineer Taras as well: “With international projects, you come into contact with various cultures. It can be challenging to align everyone’s interests. Another challenge is solving technical issues, such as product defects. Fortunately, these occurrences are rare, but finding a solution that allows the product to still be used is crucial,” says Taras. With his knowledge and experience, devising technical solutions is definitely his forte.<\/p>\n

From welding inspector to QC Engineer: Advancing at Weldmij<\/h2>\n

Did Taras always know that he wanted to become a QC Engineer? No. Taras says, “It actually came my way. Before joining Weldmij, I worked as a welding inspector. It was when I started working at Weldmij that I delved deeper into the field. I received training as an International Welding Technologist, followed by IWI-C certification and various courses. Weldmij gives me the opportunity to continue learning. That has never been a problem for them. Previously, I was uncertain about my career path, but Weldmij has shaped me into who I am now. They guide you through the entire process so that you can eventually work independently. They truly invest in your development.”<\/p>\n

Working at Weldmij: Quality, Support, and Great Colleagues<\/h2>\n

“Weldmij listens very attentively to their people. If I have a request, like new work clothing, I have the freedom to choose it myself. Recently, I needed a new laptop, and I had it within a day. Important matters are exceptionally well taken care of behind the scenes. It couldn’t be better. Everything is in perfect order and functions flawlessly, which contributes to me being able to do my work well,” Taras says. “Everyone is treated equally. When I’m in the office, I always have enjoyable interactions with my colleagues. Friendships have developed here. It’s not just a temporary staffing agency that places people randomly. They stand for high quality, and they deliver on that.”<\/p>\n
